For moms

A prayer for strength in motherhood

Scripture to read in context: Isaiah 40:28–31

Father, you see the work that is noticed and the work that no one sees. I bring you my tiredness and the responsibilities before me. Give me strength for what is mine to do and wisdom to recognize what I cannot carry alone. Help me speak gently, receive rest without guilt, and ask for practical support. Remind me that my worth is not measured by a perfect day. Walk with me in the next small step. Amen.

A prayer when a mother feels anxious

Scripture to read in context: Philippians 4:6–7

God of peace, I bring you the worries that keep circling in my mind. Help me name them honestly without condemning myself for feeling afraid. Show me what needs action, what needs a conversation, and what I can set down for this moment. Guide me toward trustworthy people and qualified care when I need it. Let your love steady me as I breathe, listen and take one wise step. Amen.

A prayer for patience and repair

Scripture to read in context: James 1:19

Lord, help me be ready to listen and slow to speak in anger. When I feel stretched thin, give me wisdom to pause safely before responding. When I have hurt my child with my words, help me apologize without excuses and make changes that rebuild trust. Teach me to set kind, clear boundaries and to receive support for patterns I cannot change alone. Let our home make room for honesty, growth and gentleness. Amen.

For children

A prayer for children at school

Scripture to read in context: James 1:5

Father, I bring my child and their school day to you. Give them curiosity as they learn, courage when something is difficult, and kindness toward those around them. Help them recognize safe adults and ask for help when they need it. Give their teachers wisdom and patience. Help me stay attentive to my child’s words and needs, and guide me to act when something is unsafe. May my child know they are loved beyond their achievements. Amen.

A prayer for a child who is unwell

Scripture to read in context: Psalm 46:1

God, be near my child in pain, uncertainty or illness. I ask for healing, comfort and the care they need. Give the professionals caring for them wisdom, and help us understand the next steps. Support our family through waiting and difficult decisions. Help me offer a calm presence without hiding my need for help. Remind my child that being unwell is not their fault or a measure of their faith. Stay near us in this day. Amen.

A gentle bedtime prayer for children

Scripture to read in context: Psalm 4:8

Dear God, thank you for being with me today. Thank you for the people who care for me and for the good moments I remember. I bring you anything that made me sad or afraid. Help me tell a safe grown-up when I need help. Please give me rest tonight and help our family care for one another. Thank you that I can speak to you in my own words. Amen.
